Fees

Legal fees today can be a serious matter and is the most complained aspect of the legal profession in Ireland.

Under Section 68 of the Solicitors (Amendment) Act, 1994, (link) all Solicitors are legally obliged to provide in writing to their client any charges which will become payable as a result of providing legal services. At CN Doherty & Co. we are happy to discuss our fees and charges with our clients.
It is our practice to seek an initial payment where possible at the commencement of the proceedings. This payment is held in our ‘client account’ covering costs and expenses which will be incurred during the litigation of your case. These costs and expenses will always be discussed with you so that everyone is happy with the position.

We are fully regulated by the Law Society of Ireland and we undertake to furnish our clients with a contract of engagement together with a quotation as soon as practical having taken the necessary legal instructions such that complies with the law.
Our firm of Solicitors is designed to meet the needs of the people of today as we are well aware of the many pressing issues that exist in our society. Our fees are suited for both the consumer and small and medium enterprise such that will allow the necessary legal action to be processed in an affordable manner without any compromise in the service we offer.

Solicitors charges are based on the following:

1. The complexity of the matter
2. Urgency of the matter
3. The difficulty of the questions raised
4. The skill, labour, specialised knowledge and responsibility involved
5. The number and importance of documents prepared and examined
6. The amount or value of any transaction involved
7. The importance of the matter to you
8. The time reasonably spent by personnel in Solicitors firm on the matter
9. The place and places and the circumstances in which the matter is pursued

We are always happy to discuss any concerns that our clients or perspective clients may have in relation to fees and their ability to pay fees and we believe that open communication strengthens the Solicitor client relationship.
